What it does
The Mux Video API uploads, encodes and streams on-demand video, for example to add video uploads and adaptive playback to an app. POST a video URL or a direct upload to create an asset and play it with HLS or Mux Player; webhooks report when it is ready. Responses are JSON; authentication uses an access token ID and secret. Free plan with up to 10 videos and 100,000 delivery minutes a month, without a payment card; Mux Player shows a small Mux badge on the free plan. An official MCP server at https://mcp.mux.com lets AI agents manage videos.

JavaScript
const response = await fetch("https://api.mux.com/video/v1/assets", {
headers: {
"Authorization": "Basic YOUR_BASE64_TOKEN_ID_AND_SECRET",
},
});
const data = await response.json();
console.log(data);
Python
import requests

Replace YOUR_BASE64_TOKEN_ID_AND_SECRET with your own values from your account. Run the JavaScript on a server, such as Node.js 18 or newer: this API does not accept calls from web pages on other sites.
