MCP server and API

Let your AI assistant search this directory for you. Free Web Services runs a read-only MCP server: Claude, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients can find free APIs for a task, filter on "no API key" or "works from the browser", read the free terms and get a tested example request. No account or key is needed.

Server address: https://free-web-services.com/mcp (streamable HTTP).

Connect your assistant

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http free-web-services https://free-web-services.com/mcp

Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app)

Under Settings, Connectors, add a custom connector with the address https://free-web-services.com/mcp.

Cursor

In ~/.cursor/mcp.json or .cursor/mcp.json in your project:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "free-web-services": {
      "url": "https://free-web-services.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

In .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "free-web-services": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://free-web-services.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Then ask, for example: "Find a free weather API that needs no key and works from the browser" or "Compare Resend and Brevo for transactional e-mail".

The tools

The server only reads: it shows what the public pages of this site show. At most 60 calls a minute per IP address.

The same as a JSON API

Not using MCP? The same search answers at https://free-web-services.com/api/services.json, without a key and callable from web pages:

curl 'https://free-web-services.com/api/services.json?q=weather&no_key=1&cors=1&limit=5'

Prefer plain text? Every page also has a Markdown version, and llms-full.txt has the whole directory in one file.
