What it does

The Kraken Spot REST API gives public market data from the Kraken cryptocurrency exchange: ticker prices with ask, bid, last trade, volume, high and low for each trading pair, plus OHLC candles, order books and recent trades. Use it to show live crypto prices or price charts in an app. Public endpoints are plain HTTP GET requests that return JSON; trading and account endpoints need a signed API key. Free, no key needed for the public market data endpoints, within Kraken's rate limits. Kraken's official CLI includes an MCP server (kraken mcp) that lets AI agents read public market data without an API key.
