What it does
The Webz.io News API searches news articles from the open web in many languages, with filters for country, language, site, sentiment and date, for example to track coverage of a company or topic. Requests are GET calls with a token and a query in Webz's Boolean syntax, and the answers are JSON or XML. Free with a free API key and 5 dollars of usage credit every month; after that the API is pay as you go. History on the free plan is limited. An official MCP server at https://news-mcp.webz.io/mcp lets AI agents search the news.

Example request
curl
curl 'https://api.webz.io/api/news?token=YOUR_API_KEY&q=London'
JavaScript
const response = await fetch("https://api.webz.io/api/news?token=YOUR_API_KEY&q=London");
const data = await response.json();
console.log(data);
Python
import requests
response = requests.get(
"https://api.webz.io/api/news?token=YOUR_API_KEY&q=London",

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your own key. Run the JavaScript on a server, such as Node.js 18 or newer: this API does not accept calls from web pages on other sites.
