What it does
The MusicBrainz API gives open music metadata: artists, releases, recordings, labels and their identifiers, for example to tag a music library or show album details. Requests are GET calls that answer in XML or, with fmt=json, in JSON. Free, no key needed, at about one request per second per IP address. Every request needs a User-Agent with the application's name and a contact address, or it is throttled.
