What it does
The Library of Congress makes its online collections available as JSON: add fo=json to almost any loc.gov search or item page to get books, photos, maps, manuscripts, newspapers (Chronicling America) and audio with their metadata and images. Free, no key needed; the library asks you to keep request rates moderate.
