What it does
Gutendex is a simple JSON API for the catalogue of Project Gutenberg, which has more than 70,000 free public-domain e-books. Search books by title, author, language or topic, sort them by popularity, and get download links in formats such as EPUB, Kindle, HTML and plain text. Free and open source, no key needed; it is a community service without uptime guarantee, so you can host it yourself for heavy use.
