What it does

Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) is object storage for the internet: store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. Files ('objects') are kept in buckets and can be private or public, versioned, encrypted and automatically moved to cheaper storage classes. Access is through a REST API and the AWS SDKs for most languages; many other services offer an S3-compatible API too. Paid, with a 12-month free tier for new AWS accounts.
